Resident Evil: Revelations looks like it might just turn out to be one of the premier titles for Nintendo's 3DS. In addition to being undoubtedly the best looking game on the system so far, Capcom.
This comes via the game's official website. A translation available on NeoGaf states that the number of players is '1, 2 for Wireless Play' and that the game will support 'Local Play, Internet Play, StreetPass and Slidepad.'
- Add: If you are looking for a couch co-op experience and you haven't played it already, amusingly Resident Evil Revelations 2's entire campaign can be played by 2 players in co-op (though only offline). Rev 2 is more focused on survival and scavenging. Unlike Rev 1 where your co-op buddy is invincible, the support characters in Rev 2 can be killed.
- Resident Evil: Revelations’ co-op multiplayer trailer. While Revelations is focused on the single-player experience that RE: Mercenaries lacked, it features a Raid Mode in which you can work together with a friend to get through special stages (apparently it also has a separate Mercenaries mode). This mode has both local and online support, a store, Chris and Jill as playable characters.
This clashes with previous comments made by Capcom that the game would be a single-player experience only.
Are you glad that the game will offer co-op? Or have you been put off by its use in Resident Evil 5? Let us know in the comments below.
Resident Evil: Revelations is due out early next year.
Capcom have confirmed the Resident Evil: Revelations has online Co-Op for 2 players on their Japanese website for the game. The site also confirms Local Wireless options and StreetPass functionality, and that the game will arrive on a 4GB cart.
Resident Evil Revelations Raid Mode
The Co-Op mode is called 'Raid Mode' and appears to be a fresher take on the Mercenaries mini-games. You play as either Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield as you eliminate enemies in scenarios taken from the main campaign .Raid Mode is playable in both single-player and two-player variations, the latter of which allows you to team up with a fellow survivor either locally or over the internet.
As you'd expect, you earn points for killing exploits that are calculated at the end of each level to give you a rank. you'll also collect loot and parts to upgrade your weapons.
Tsukasa Takenaka speaking to EuroGamer:
'The story mode in the game is something we created with the single-player experience in mind. I would like everyone to play the game in their bedroom with the lights off and headphones on. That's the way to experience the mode. At the same time, these games we create, we know they're really enjoyable when you're able to share some of that experience with a friend. Multiplayer is very important and that communication is something that resonates with everyone. We felt putting Raid Mode in, in this kind of structure, allowed us to do that for this game as well.'
